About Us
JBI Library’s mission is to ensure that anyone who is blind, has low vision or other print disability can fully participate in and feel connected to all aspects of Jewish life, from culture, education, and community to religious practice.
About Us
Our Vision
A world where anyone who wants to connect to Jewish life can access the printed word without barriers to celebrate, learn, participate, and pray.
Our Values
Access
We are committed to ensuring that all individuals have equal access to our resources and services. We strive to eliminate barriers and provide multiple formats and methods to meet the diverse needs of our community.
Jewish living
Judaism draws a direct line between the importance of texts and Jewish identity. We believe in the beauty and power of Jewish teachings and community in all it’s formats and denominations and believe access should be available to all.
Bridge building
As part of a wider community, we work with individuals and organizations to create connections and share a vision where everyone who seeks to enrich their Jewish life can do so readily, without having to ask.
Representation
All communities benefit when people with a variety of identities play meaningful roles. JBI Library actively seeks diverse representation within our community members, on our board, and on our staff.
Caring
We provide personalized attention and care that responds to individual needs and interests to help people engage in our inclusive community the way they prefer through braille, large print, audio, or other formats, methods, or means they desire.
Respect
We recognize every person’s equal value and treat one another with dignity.
